I never use to be a morning person. It was always sunsets and later nights for me.
I’m not sure if it was becoming a mother or if it happened beforehand, but I am now fully, 100% a morning person. I love getting up early, seeing the sun rise as I sip coffee and have some quiet time.
And, as I learned, I apparently even love sunrise engagement sessions, like the one here with Sara and Bruce.
When Sara and Bruce suggested an early engagement shoot, I was stoked. Not only is downtown Knoxville quiet and not busy in the early morning hours, but the light, peeping through the city buildings, is always just spectacular first thing.
We met before sunrise on the Gay Street bridge to get the sun rising over the mountains.
100% worth it.
And, of course, what downtown Knoxville engagement shoot would be complete without photos in front of the iconic Tennessee Theater.
You would not be able to get such car-free shots any other time but early in the morning.
Part of Knoxville’s best kept secret, The Urban Wilderness, Ijam’s Nature Center is one of the most beautiful + easily accessible places for stunning wooded photos. There is even a quarry there to get some water pictures. Even if you aren’t looking for photos, I HIGHLY recommend going to Ijams for a place to go for hiking and water sports.
We had a few minutes left over in the shoot, so we drove over to Suttree Landing Park to get some fun shots with downtown Knoxville in the background.
