In case you have missed it, I now officially shoot in two locations – Key West and Knoxville. Knoxville is our more permanent location but, when our Florida Keys house is not rented out, we will go down there some too.
I adore photographing but Key West weddings and East Tennessee weddings. How could I not? I get the best of both worlds – beach and mountains. Divine.
Last year, I had the amazing experience to photograph Brittany and Shawn’s wedding at the Magnolia venue. It was my first wedding back in the Knoxville area (besides all of the shooting I had done with other photographers to prepare myself for my move back) and I could not have been more excited. Not only were Brittany and Shawn fun, kind and full of great ideas but the views from the Magnolia Venue are amongst the best in the area. You literally can not find better mountain-loving vistas anywhere.
The vibe was rustic but elegant with a definite vintage feel. Brittany and her family are actually from Miami so it was fun swapping South Florida stories with them.
The day of the wedding was forecasted to be raining all day… and, unfortunately, it was an unusually accurate forecast. It rained most of the day. The ceremony had to be moved indoors (cheers to the amazing vendors who made this transition seamless and easy) but fortunately, the Magnolia has panoramic views, even from inside. What makes it even cooler, is that the back windows of the Magnolia can open, which allows for an open-feel, even when you are inside because of rain.
And can we talk about the bridal processional for a moment? Who knew a rainy walk could be quite so beautiful.
Taking a few minutes to yourself after the wedding is NEVER a bad idea…
After the ceremony, we had a lucky break in the weather. It was freezing but Brittany and Shawn were troopers and we headed out to get some absolutely stunning images. We had a brief few minutes before the rain and the fog came back in – but let me tell you that it was absolutely stunning.
I talked to Brittany a little about her wedding and she said her favorite part of the wedding was actually when all of the rain and fog rolled in while we were doing photos. Her and Shawn trusted me and, working quickly, we got these images:
I mean, can you even????
Brittany’s advice to other couples planning their wedding: Photographers always say weather actually makes for amazing pictures. It really does. It’s nothing worth stressing over.
Point-On. Weather can make for the best images. You just have to be flexible and willing to pivot from your initial vision a bit.
While walking down this little path during the fog, Brittany and Shawn were able to relax and just goof off a bit, dancing and enjoying the moment.
With weather worries behind us, the reception was a blast.
You can’t pose moments like this. You just have to be there and be ready.
And let’s talk about the Magnolia for a moment. Or rather, let’s take a look at it….
This venue really does make all of my mountain dreams come true. It is the definition of rustic elegance. And the views are unmatched. It makes me so happy to be a Knoxville wedding photographer again.
