I don’t shoot a lot of elopements but I was SO glad to have been asked to shoot Elyshia & Derick’s Key West elopement at Fort Zachary Taylor. Not only is this couple gorgeous and smart – but they are incredibly sweet too and the day was a ton of fun. We spent a good majority of the two hours doing portraits of them. With ‘normal’ weddings we rarely, if ever, have this much time to spend on a more formalized shoot so it was a nice opportunity to really get to play!
We started the day with an around Key West session, stopping by some iconic locations as well as some lesser known ‘secret’ spots that I have. 🙂
The actual ceremony was at Fort Zachary Taylor. Can you really get anything better than the blue skies, ocean, and the smiles these two shared?
After the ceremony, we took a few more minutes to photograph around Fort Zachary, waiting for the sun to set. Fort Zachary is, by the way, my favorite place on the island to watch the sunset.
Who knew we could make a pile of brush look so fun. I am loving the texture and the light on Elyshia’s face!
The photo below has become one of my favorite captured moments so far this year.
And of course, here are the sunset photos…. you can’t really go wrong.
Congrats to Elyshia & Derick!
Venue: Fort Zachary Taylor
